For Sale - A profitable 70 acre coffee farm in Costa Rica. Three teachers from Seattle, WA had the idea of developing an ecologically sustainable community in beautiful Costa Rica where the weather is always nice.
The farm is in the San Ramon area on the western slopes of Costa Rica in a rich coffee growing area just 30 minutes from the city of San Ramon and less than an hour from the airport and beaches. The farm is bordered on two sides by public roads. The idea was to create a community of just 20 homes on this incredible 70 acre farm with forest, ocean views, water falls, springs, wildlife, trails, fruit trees and, of course, 20 acres in great coffee. Our coffee is certified sustainable by the RainForest Alliance and is much sought after Arabic Catuai Variety.
Much has been accomplished in the past three years; through better care, we have managed to get the coffee production from 600 pounds of green beans to over 10,000 pounds for 2012. In addition more than 5,000 new coffee plants and 200 fruit trees were planted, interior roads cleared and 20 homesites were surveyed and registered (titled) for individual ownership. A pond for tilapia was excavated along one of the streams and a picnic area created around the pond. A large, flat area of two acres is now cleared for growing food for the community and areas has been identified for raising cattle, pigs and chickens. A rough caretaker / picker home is on the property and has running water, bathroom and solar lighting. Several building sites, along with a new site for the resident caretaker have been prepared.
At this point the project needs new energy and blood. The current owners have moved on to other things and thus the farm is for sale. We are offering the farm for sale at less than we have invested and are hoping to find someone interesting in continuing the project development. Priced at $495,000.
