Ever Used Spiral Tree Guards?

We have found the little farm tree bags invaluable for protecting our farm seedlings from all sorts of stress. The survival rate has gone up a lot, and the little trees are thriving.

We are thinking about using Spiral Tree guards next time, as they can expand with the growth of the tree. Has anyone out there ever used them? How did they go, and are there right or wrong applications or types of spiral tree guard out there? What were they most useful for?
