Happy Hen Free Range Eggs

We are currently building and establishing our free-range egg facility and are hoping to use as little formulated feeds as possible, eventually (ideally) none.... We are looking at various crops,(comfrey and duckweed being only two), compost and vermiculture at present so I am excited to hear from and communicate with like-minded farmers on useful ideas regarding sustainable feed for my Happy Hens.

We are expecting our first 50 pullets this week.. ;-)

We have 7 horses which will produce manure for the worms to grow in and for chooks to scratch through as well as well-established compost windrows, access to a forest and a wonderful dam stocked with Tilapia mossambicus.

MEG: WHAT A GREAT VENTURE! MY HENS ALSO LIKE FAT HEN & SALT BUSH, AND WILL EAT FALLEN MULBERRIES, GOOSEBERRIES AND GRAPES. ALSO PLANT SHRUBS SUCH AS ACACIAS, TAGASASTE AND ALBIZIA FOR EDIBLE SEEDS FOR THE HENS, AND FOLIAGE FOR THE HORSES
