Has Anyone Tried Biochar?

by Keith
(KY, USA)

Some time back I read an article on bio-char, how to make it and how and why to use it.
Apparently Biochar is a stable form of carbon with significant potential for use in carbon sequestration and in improving soil condition. The theory presented offered examples of dark soils where in history bio char had been used to improve the soil for improved food production. The bio-char was purported to have loosened the soil improving aeration, water retention, and a "home" for more micro organisms.

Has anyone else seen anything about Bio-char? Has anyone tried using it? If so what results can be expected?
