Quantifying Cow Poo Power

I live on a Dairy farm, we milk about 250 cows twice a day. I was researching a topic for a chemistry presentation when I came across methane digesters was wanting to know if you have any statistics. Such as the methane produced by one cow can power "what" for "how long?" And other things along the same line. I have googled this topic and found lots of useful information, but I am looking for some statistics to help with my presentation. Any help is appreicated!! Thank you

How much energy do you get from Cow Poo

There are a lot of different sites out there with info on converting cow matter and other bio sources to energy. The last I read is 8 gallons of liquid poo for 1 KWH of electricity. This seems about right. There are home grown systems you can build but be VERY careful as methane is a deadly toxin. There is a good report from 2010 on Anerobic converters (methane extractors) for small operations that you may want to take a look at.
