Remedy for Australian Guava Moth that Works!

by Caroline Blewitt

I have 1/4 acre and use organic methods only

Last year the Australian Guava Moth invaded my fruit.
This pest has wiped out whole orchards!!!
This year I have sprayed weekly with 7 cloves garlic olive oil all zapped up in blender and sat for a week then strained, add 1 teaspoon pure soap in hot water and 1/4 cup olive oil
Fill up backpacksprayer with water and mixture, spray tree buds fruit
IT WORKS!

Is this spray still working. You mention filling up the backpack sprayer with water. Any particular ratio?

Is spray still working? Can the grubs be killed by freezing?
by: Jenny

Not sure when you posted this, but are you still having success with your garlic spray? And when do you spray? As the fruit is ripening? I have the moth in feijoas last year, lemons over winter, and now have found them in our lovely plums. I am picking them unripe, easier than collecting them off the ground. I am wondering if I freeze the affected fruit for a few days, whether I can then add to my compost,or am I better at putting them out with the rubbish? Burying them is very time consuming!
