Lifestyle farm with Watermill

Surround yourself with the Serenity and Tranquillity of Watermill Farm. Enfolded within the foothills of the Rooiberg Mountain Range, and adjacent to the Rooiberg Conservancy area, Watermill Farm is situated 3 kilometers from the Little Karoo village of Van Wyksdorp, off the R62 highway. Ideally suited to Nature lovers, plant and bird enthusiasts and those simply needing to soothe their souls.
Off the Grid and organic, with full solar power and a generous water allocation, the farm is ideal for those looking for a more sustainable lifestyle. The farm has 5 beautiful and authentically restored Karoo Cottages. The unrestored Watermill with intact milling equipment, dates back to around the 1890's. There are several outbuildings (incl store-rooms and car-ports).

Watermill Farm is currently a guest farm suited to eco-tourism, but it would be ideal for an eco-village, an extended family or a group of like-minded friends.
With approximately 8.57ha of land, of which about 5ha is arable, the farm is a convenient and manageable size. The soil is very fertile. The area is a fruit and olive growing region, with a Mediteranean climate.

The mud brick and cob cottages have all been restored to a high standard with care and concern for the environment, using traditional methods and techniques, such as cob and lime render (not cement) and traditional dung flooring in most cottages. The main cottage has traditional clay tiles throughout.

There are 2 x Two-bedroomed cottages 2 x One-bedroomed cottages and the'long-house' (langhuis) that would be ideal for a pub/ restaurant / tea-room / gallery. It has a separate contained apartment in the second section and a 22mx3m stoep or verandah with glorious views.
