What makes a good site for a wind turbine?

Thank you for all the information on your site. It is great!

We are considering moving closer to family in Lexington, Kentucky. How would I know if the small farm we buy would be a good choice for wind turbines. Most of Kentucky is hilly land.

Thanks Gayle

MEG: FIND YOUR NEAREST SOURCE OF WEATHER INFORMATION AND CHECK SEASONAL WIND STRENGTH FOR YOUR AREA. TALK TO LOCAL PEOPLE TO GET SOME LOCAL KNOWLEDGE. LOOK AT THE TREES TO SEE IF THEY HAVE A BIT OF A LEAN TO THEM! BEST SITES TEND TO BE HIGH, WITH A CLEAR PATH FOR THE MOST RELIABLE WIND TO REACH THEM, UNOBSTRUCTED BY TREES WHICH TEND TO CREATE TURBULENCE AND REDUCE ENERGY YIELD.
